Cookie consent examples, and the banner that has to work behind them

Every consent banner looks like the last one, and almost none of them do the same thing. This site is for the person who owns the website and has been handed the banner: what a banner has to offer, what has to stop firing until somebody answers it, and what you need to be able to produce when a visitor says they refused. Start with the free cookie audit worksheet, which counts what your site actually sets and how much of it is already running before anyone has been asked.

Free for 14 days. No card needed.

Cookievo Pro is $10 a month for the whole company, billed monthly.

Ask properly, hold the tags, keep the answer

The question
The banner offers categories a visitor can actually act on A single accept button is not a question, it is an announcement. Here the strictly necessary set is named and separated from the rest, nothing is pre-ticked, and refusing is the same number of clicks as accepting.
The hold
Nothing fires until the answer comes back The failure mode is not a badly worded banner, it is analytics and ad tags calling out on page load while the bar is still sliding up. Tags stay held until the visitor has chosen, which is the one part of this an outsider can check without your help.
The record
Every decision is a row, and a withdrawal is a new row The question a complaint asks is never what your settings say today, it is what was true on the date somebody says they refused. A record that holds the banner version, the categories chosen and the timestamp can answer that; a cookie in the visitor's own browser cannot.

The worksheet is yours. Cookievo Pro keeps the consent it records.

The worksheet tells you what is firing today. Pro is what lets you answer the harder question six months from now: what was this person shown, what did they choose, and when did they change it.

Should you buy a privacy suite instead?

If what you need is a privacy program in one system, data mapping, DSAR handling, vendor risk, policy drafting and a dashboard your board looks at, buy a privacy suite and stop reading: we do none of those and we are not going to. Cookievo is for the site whose actual problem is that the banner is decorative and nobody can say what a particular visitor agreed to.

What it is for
Cookievo The banner and the consent record: what was offered, what was chosen, under which version, and when it changed
A privacy compliance suiteA whole privacy program: data maps, subject requests, vendor risk, policies and reporting
What it needs from you
Cookievo A script on the site and an hour with the cookie audit worksheet
A privacy compliance suiteAn implementation project, usually with someone assigned to own it
What it does not do
Cookievo No policy drafting, no DSAR handling, no analytics of its own, no tag manager, no advice on which rules reach you
A privacy compliance suiteUsually most things, which is why it is bought and configured as a project
How it is bought
Cookievo $10 a month for the whole company, cancel in one click, the cookie audit worksheet is free with no account
A privacy compliance suiteAn annual contract, priced on request and usually by company size

You will not find a rival's price on this page, because there is not one to quote. Consent platforms price on application and scale by traffic or headcount, so any number here would have to be invented, and an invented number is worse than a blank.
